DESCRIPTION: Forewing length up to 11m. An easily overlooked species with long legs, an orange-rust body and a quite angular shape. The legs are pale with dark speckling and a band on the femur, just before the joint to the tibia. It has four-segmented antennae that are exceptionally long, with a noticeable dark thickening or "club" at the very tip. BEHAVIOUR: Adults overwinter, mating in the early summer. Feeding is on the sap of the plant done with via straw-like snout. DISTRIBUTION: Fairly common in the southern half of the country but patchy elsewhere. HABITAT: Shady and damp areas like woods and woodland margins mainly feeding on Enchanter's Nightshade. PERIOD: Can be seen all year round.
